Main purpose of job:
The Department for International Trade (DIT), is the arm of the government responsible for supporting UK businesses to export, for attracting foreign investment to the UK and for negotiating trade agreements. Our work is focused on securing growth and jobs in the UK, across sectors and across the country.
Based in Hong Kong, this is an exciting entry-level role, in a dynamic regional marketing team. The successful candidate will provide marketing and administrative support to our colleagues across Asia-Pacific.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Support the Marketing Hub team through carrying out administrative tasks including processing invoices, purchase orders, updating contact lists, maintaining collateral records and recording budgets for the team.
- Liaise and monitor the digital marketing activity across the region, including running regional social media channels (Facebook, email marketing, digital newsletter curation and potentially Linked In). Providing consultation and best practice sharing to Posts (Embassy, Consulate and High Commission marcomms teams in the region) on key areas of digital.
- Liaising with Posts to monitor activity across the region, including acquiring photos and reports of events and feeding into the reports to HQ.
- Act as the liaison between headquarters and Posts for branding and marketing collateral. Liaising with production agencies to get quotations for Posts, briefing artwork and working with designers to deliver marketing materials.
- Assisting with marketing content planning and creation – outlining content, researching, and where possible creating marketing assets.
- Offer training and advice to Posts on marketing tools, programmes and processes.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Well organised, thorough and detail orientated.
- 1 to 2 years of experience or qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism or Business Administration/Commerce would be desirable. Other related educational qualifications would also be considered.
- Good team work skills and a strong ability to multi-task and deliver a high quality service, whilst meeting deadlines.
- Personable and customer-service orientated.
- Adept in social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, Facebook. Being well versed in Chinese digital platforms such as Weibo, WeChat also an advantage.
- Valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
- Experience, training or certification in digital or social media marketing a definite advantage.
