Finance

Main purpose of job: 

Provide direct support to the Head of Finance India Network to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of finance services across India Network including effective budget management, monitoring financial performance and compliance indicators and other finance operations like accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Deputy Head of Finance will be responsible for effective delivery of finance functions across the network, ensuring consistent level of financial compliance and budget management, supporting the head of finance in day to day operations and coordinating with CSM’s across the network for budget management, forecasting and supporting them to keep financial performance compliance indicators green, providing finance query resolution to CSM’s and other stakeholders across network and conducting finance training and monthly finance meetings with CSM’s, supervising accounts receivable and accounts payable operations, providing support to partners at the post and supporting head of finance in preparation of Management information and Medium term financial planning. An ideal candidate will have a solid background in finance as well as a willingness to learn and develop, experience in budgeting and reporting is preferable. The role will involve: 

Budgeting and Reporting- The candidate will be responsible for budget amendment and forecast on Hyperion, coordinating with CSM’s and budget holders to ensure timely submission of inputs and promoting the budgets and forecast to SAAD Finance hub. Monthly analysis of Spend Vs Budget and providing support to head of Finance for analysis of budgets. Conducting meetings with CSM’s for quarterly spending reviews of their budgets. Analysis of Action plan forecasting submitted by budget holders and CSM’s.

Financial performance and compliance Indicators- Working with CSM’s and budget holders and providing support to them for closure of outstanding invoices on hold, accruals, open purchase orders, activity recording, reconciling of GPC spend and ensure the FPCI scores for network remains green, liaising with GTPC team for closure of outstanding finance queries, escalating the matters to Head of Finance and management which requires attention on timely basis.

Overseas Accounting Return- Preparing and coordinating with budget holders and CSM’s for completion of Overseas accounting return. Analysis of accruals and open Capital purchase order, ensuring timely submission of OAR template to Finance hub and ascertaining the impact on budget.

Medium term Financial Planning- Supporting Head of Finance in preparation of Medium term financial planning, collecting the data, liaise with departments and CSM’s and conducting challenge sessions with head of finance to ensure MTFP inputs are robust. Conducting MTFP awareness sessions with the posts and CSM’s for queries and extending support during the MTFP process.

Management Information- Collecting Management information from OBIEE dashboards, finding the discrepancies and exceptions for monthly meetings with top management including Director corporate change and Deputy High Commissioner.

School Fees and PAG reporting- Handling the process for payment of School fees to British school and looking into all invoice payment and providing resolution to queries received from Parents for School fees.

Creditor Management- Tracking Outstanding advances and doing follow up with employees to return the remaining funds to BHC’s account, working on Invoices on hold for India Network and ensure closure of these invoices, dealing with other finance queries and ad hoc payments

Supervision of Accounts Receivable- Supervising the A2 Accounts receivable officer and ensuring timely submission of GST claims, Debit memos, Cash management and auditing the NPA’s

The day-to-day management of a India network finance would require the person with good leadership abilities, good decision making and management skills to provide quality analysis of finance, a good team player for coordination with stakeholders. The person should have rich experience in Finance function and must have strong knowledge of budget and forecasting.

Essential on arrival:      

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Finance, preferably Budgeting and reporting.
  • Experience of working internationally or for similar International body eg Diplomatic mission, UN etc.
  • Experience of managing high quality Finance processes.
  • Post graduate qualification in Finance

  • Good Interpersonal skills; patience & resilience
  • Customer Service and communication skills
  • Experience of working in development sector organizations
