Economic and Prosperity

Main purpose of job:

To support the Economic Diplomacy Team in all aspects of their work, but in particular economic analysis to support the team’s understanding of the Peruvian economy and trends in sustainable development through science and innovation, clean growth and an improved business environment.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

The core responsibility of the successful candidate will be to provide regular reporting and analysis of Peru’s economy and the trade relationship between the UK and Peru. The objective of this analysis is to identify the right approach for the UK to take to support Peru’s economic growth. You will receive advice and guidance from FCO economists in London, and a regional network of economists so you will have the opportunity to learn how the UK uses economic analysis to develop foreign policy.

As well as analytical work, you will provide support to the economic diplomacy team on activities in our three priority areas: science and innovation, clean growth and an improved business environment.

This will mean supporting team members with the delivery of events and policy work, identifying conferences and activities taking place in Lima which will help deepen understanding of Peruvian policies on these priority areas, and attending and reporting back on these events on behalf of the team from time to time. You will also be expected to support monitoring of projects being funded by the Embassy in these areas, including checking financial reporting and evaluating the impact of projects that have been completed.

We expect you to come to work with a positive attitude and eager to learn. You will bring a different voice and perspective to our team: that is valuable to us and we expect you to be confident in expressing and justifying your ideas

We are looking for an economics undergraduate who is in at least their 8th semester.

Good organisational skills are important and experience of administrative work is welcome.
