The British Embassy in Uzbekistan is part of the world-wide UK diplomatic network working on behalf of British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Guard.

The jobholder will work within a team of security guards with the responsibility to provide an efficient and professional security service to its staff and visitors. The local Security Guard is responsible for the physical protection of the Embassy premises, controlling access to the buildings and ensuring that the buildings are secure.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the control of access and supervising security procedures;
  • Locking and unlocking procedures;
  • Supervising contractors as and when required;
  • Security patrols and monitoring the CCTV and alarm systems;
  • Being the Embassy's first point of contact (phone and physical) during silent hours;
  • Supervise the arrival and departure of vehicles, undertake vehicle searches;
  • Check all incoming mail and deliveries;
  • Prevent unauthorised access to sites;
  • Handling UK Nationals in difficulty in accordance with procedures;
  • Manage Embassy transport (taxis) booking system;      
  • Perform driving duties if required;
  • Liaise with members of the Diplomatic Police force who are assigned to the Embassy and Residence premises;
  • Enforce parking rules outside Embassy premises.
  • Secondary Education degree minimum;
  • Previous relevant experience in security or military;
  • Ability to understand instructions given in English, both orally and in writing;
  • Proficient in Uzbek and Russian, both oral and written;
  • Positive and engaging verbal and written communication skills, based on principles of honesty and integrity;
  • Available to travel if required;
  • Ability to deal with visitors and members of the public politely and fairly;
  • Ability to analyse problems and come up with workable solutions.
  • Local driving license category B.

This is a permanent full-time contract (40 hours per week).
