Applications are invited for the position of Event Coordinator at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur for a fixed-term contract until the end of April 2018.

The main purpose of the job is to lead event coordination for a major public diplomacy event on behalf of the British High Commission.

What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Working directly to the High Commissioner, ensure that objectives and priorities for the event are clear and effectively cascaded around the High Commission. Lead the coordination of work amongst leads and monitor progress of activities and preparations. Ensure that the High Commissioner is updated as necessary.  
  • To coordinate with both internal and external partners associated with this event to ensure we are able to get high level engagement and support for delivery, including identifying potential sponsors.
  • To oversee the collation and registration of guests; work in partnership with our marketing team on the dressing and layout of the venue; and with our finance team to ensure budgets are adhered to and value for money is achieved.
  • To lead a virtual team drawn from across the mission with QBP event sub-leads on Food & Beverage, Sponsorship, Security, GREAT and QBP brand management, Communications (Including Social Media plans), Guest list/Invitations/RSVPs and Guest Registration on the night. In doing so hold regular planning meetings and troubleshoo as required.

Strong events management experience

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office
