The British Embassy in Serbia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) Programme Officer.

The British Government in the Western Balkans is looking for an able, experienced and motivated programme officer to work, based in the British Embassy, Belgrade, on important programmes in Serbia and across the Western Balkans. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of programming in an international donor context, preferably in sectors such as democracy, good governance, security and stability or similar.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To lead on management of the portfolio of projects under the ‘Conflict, Stability and Security Fund’ in Serbia. This includes coordination with the Good Governance Fund in Serbia and regionally;

To provide accurate and timely reporting, forecasts and updates on project delivery, in support of colleagues in Belgrade as required, and contribute to the delivery of narrative reporting on impact;

To liaise with project implementers and partners to ensure good Embassy oversight over project bids, project selection and project activity, and ensuring value for money in all activity;

To assist in the development of project portfolios by carrying out donor mapping and other scoping activity, supporting London and the Embassies where appropriate;

To contribute to the planning and delivery of public diplomacy activities related to projects delivered through the Embassies;

To support the Regional Hub in collaborating on regional projects;

To work as part of a wider policy team, building relationships with policy officers and taking part in team events.

  • Project and programme management skills and experience in an international or donor context or similar;
  • Verbal and written fluency in English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in achieving team objectives.
  • Experience of project and programme work across the Western Balkans region;
  • Experience of delivering projects or programmes in conflict, security, stability and/or governance sectors.

This is a Temporary full-time position of 5 working days, 39 gross hours per week and the length of the contract will be subject to duration of the programme.

The salary is 1715 Euros gross and subject to payment of all mandatory social security contributions  and tax in line with local regulations. 

In addition to monthly salary, staff receives a meal allowance of €70 per month and transport allowance of 3,725 dinars per month (review each February) as per Terms & Conditions.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorization for Serbia in order to apply.

The successful candidate will be hired under the terms and conditions which apply to all locally-engaged staff in employment relationship; tax and social contributions will be paid accordingly.

All contributions are deductable at the source. If for any reason the Employee is required to work for periods longer than the conditioned hours overtime may be paid.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Serbia are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Serbian employment law.
