The British Embassy in Chisinau is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Guard. The main purpose of this role is to provide the first line of physical security to the mission.

Main purpose of job:

Provide the first line of physical security to the mission. Protection of staff, assets and information.


Roles and responsibilities:

Access control duties at post. Security functions during external events, ex at HMA residence. Monitoring contractors working on site. Mail and goods screening on delivery (security x-ray). Patrolling of embassy outside perimeter. Observe and report security incidents, suspicious behaviour and unsafe conditions.

  • Previous guarding experience
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Reliability and flexibility to work overtime
  • Excellent health and physical condition
  • Must be able to deal with visitors and members of the public politely and fairly
  • Languages:  English (basic), Romanian, Russian (strong independent)
  • Must be computer literate
  • First aid skills
  • Driving license

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed):     

In-house security training on access control, searches and patrolling. FCDO mandatory and optional e-learning through the FCDO online learning platform.

The FCDO have a strong Learning and Development culture, supporting a 70:20:10 learning posture (70% on-the-job informal learning, 20% informal learning from others, 10% formal learning).

This is a full-time permanent position of 35 hours (net) per week. The gross monthly salary is 12,630 MDL payable in 12 equal instalments.
