The British Embassy in Prague is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for International Liaison Adviser to integrate the NCA (National Crime Agency) department. 

The main purpose of the job will be to provide support to the International Liaison Officer of the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) based in Prague. The person recruited for this role will be responsible for carrying out a range of administrative duties as well as a variety of other tasks detailed below.

The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in an environment where time-critical actions can make great demands upon staff; this means that the post can sometimes be both exciting and challenging. The job requires proven administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to manage confidential matters.

Facilitate the successful exchange of operational information to support NCA activities and bilateral operations:

  • Ensure intelligence on Serious Organised Crime (SOC) is shared with relevant law enforcement agencies;
  • Identify the right law enforcement contact and exchange the operational activities;
  • Provide support to the International Liaison Officer (ILO) on operational tasks;
  • Gather operational information for law enforcement agencies in the UK and in all relevant countries.

Identify and support all the NCA priorities, the Country SOC Plan and the Country Plan:

  • Arrange productive meetings with relevant stakeholders for operational and strategic purposes to ensure that bilateral information sharing is effective;
  • Ensure the cooperation with all law enforcement partners and contacts at Ministries is strong;
  • Organise and actively participate in visits from UK Ministers, HO and NCA colleagues;
  • Organise and participate in capacity building events and courses.

Ensure the smooth running of the office:

  • Manage and monitor the NCA budget;
  • Ensure all documents related to office expenditure are submitted accurately;
  • Manage the daily tasks and calendar;
  • Act as interpreter for ILO  and visitors and translator to/from Czech to/from English.
  • Fluency in English and Czech (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*);
  • University education in Law, International Relations, Journalism, or Business Administration or other related field;
  • Excellent organisation skills with a keen eye for detail;
  • Good IT skills, in particular the ability to order and analyse data utilising the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • A high level of discretion and integrity.
  • Prior experience of a law enforcement or security environment.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in administrative, financial or other similar roles.

This is a full-time position of 5 working days (37.5 hours net) per week of 24 months. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00 with a flexible working hours arrangement. Staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy enjoys an average of 14 Czech/UK public holidays per year.

The monthly salary is 53,306 CZK (gross). In addition, staff receive meal contribution.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and 3 months probationary period.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for the Czech Republic in order to apply.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Czech Republic are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Czech Republic employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in  Czech Republic and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.

You will be required to deal face to face with highly distressed customers who may be in shock, grieving and in a crisis situation. Candidates should therefore have a high level of resilience to trauma.
