The British Embassy in Tirana is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Western Balkans Summit and CSSF Projects Officer A2, based in Tirana.

Working as part of the Post Programme team and with the Europe and EU Programmes Unit, to support Western Balkans Summit projects and new projects under the Influence strand:

- Support the delivery of a successful Western Balkans Summit in London in July 2018 by assisting with local logistical arrangements for pre-Summit events and the Summit itself;

- Working with London, support in-country work to develop and deliver Western Balkan Summit CSSF projects;

-  Help build the Influence programme strand of the CSSF, developing and delivering country and regional projects under that strand.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Western Balkans Summit support

 - Organise visits for London Summit Team members in months leading up to the Summit;

-  London Summit Team liaison with local delegations over logistics and messaging for the Summit;

-  London Summit Team liaison for high-level meetings in the region, and other meetings/events in the region e.g. on anti-corruption;  

-   Engagement with local civil society organisations, especially youth, women, entrepreneurs, including organising local events, and help coordinating regional events with civil society and their participation in side events at the London Summit;

- Coordination and main liaison with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and the Western Balkans Fund;

- Work with Summit team in London, Europe and EU Programmes Unit and Whitehall partners (e.g. DiT, DCMS) to design and ensure effective delivery of CSSF-funded projects resulting from the Summit goals, including the new Chevening Fellowship project for mid-career security and law enforcement officials;

- Work with the Europe and EU Programmes Unit and colleagues at post to design and ensure effective delivery of CSSF-funded projects under the Influence strand;

Financial management and administration of the above Post-led components of the WB CSSF.

  • University degree (masters degree or equivalent);
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience, including evidence of engaging stakeholders, customers and partners at all levels;
  • Effective communication, including written and spoken fluency in English and Albanian and ability to adapt communication style to different situations;
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills;
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively and flexibly on special events/occasions in the Embassy calendar;
  • A self-starter that can work well both individually and in a team;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Willingness and desire for continual learning and development.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time 2 year fixed term contract with the possibility of renewal, for 5 working days (36 hours net) per week.

The salary for this position is 1.531,512 ALL gross per year, at A2 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and three months probation period.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Tirana are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local (Albanian) employment law.
