View Vacancy - Climate, Energy, and Future Cities Intern
Main purpose of job:
Climate change and energy are two of the most important areas of collaboration between Mexico and the UK. The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute with the implementation of a series of new and existing initiatives designed to support Her Majesty’s Government objectives in Mexico, providing strategic support to the Climate, Energy and Future Cities team to promote the transition to a low carbon economy.
This is an exciting and challenging position, which covers a wide range of policy and project related tasks as well as administrative and logistic tasks. It will involve contact with most sections of the Embassy and a range of external contacts in Mexico and the UK. We often work under time pressure in a fast-paced environment, offering above market learning and development opportunities.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Carry out research to support the team’s policy analysis and reporting tasks.
- Lead on and contribute to drafting a series of briefings and reports for stakeholders in Mexico and London, both in English and Spanish.
- Support in designing programmes for official visits sponsored by the Embassy, outlining the content and assisting on logistics.
- Manage the team’s stakeholder database, guaranteeing it is up to date and user-friendly.
- Liaise with Press and Communication colleagues to support the team’s communication strategy for disseminating the results of various events and publications.
- Provide administrative and logistics support for the team’s daily tasks and events.
- Represent the Embassy in external meetings and report to the team as required.
- Essential on arrival: Genuine interest in international cooperation, particularly in the areas of climate change, energy and future cities
- Excellent communication skills
- Good drafting both in English and Spanish
- Strong internpersonal skills, able to facilitate relationship with a wide range of stakeholders
- Proactive, able to learn quickly and work under pressure with minimum supervision
- IT literate
- Strong problem solving abilities
Language: English and Spanish
Level of language required: fluent
- Currently studying a university degree level in International Relations, Political Science, Climate/ Energy Sciences or similar fields.
- Social media savvy
- Event management experience
Part-time, flexible working hours subject to agreement with line manager.
