Economic and Prosperity

Main purpose of job:

To support the Prosperity Programme Team across a variety of activities, both external and internal, according to the objectives of the British Embassy in Bogotá.

To help the Prosperity Programme deliver its objectives, and work jointly with other Embassy teams, under the supervision of a Prosperity Programme Adviser, with responsibilities in the areas of programme delivery,  information management, and Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation and Learning (MREL).

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

1.     Support the team to compile, organise, and quality assure reports (including all their annexes) received from Implementing Partners and suppliers;

2.     Support the team to monitor progress on Programme implementation through regular reporting;

3.     Support the MREL lead (Social Development Adviser) to report on progress across indicators in the Programme Logical Framework periodically;

4.     Support the team in key information management processes to facilitate delivery and monitoring, with emphasis on ODA funded activities, including the organisation and standardisation of files across strands and projects;

5.     Support the compilation of technical information, and the production of summary reports when required, on statistical socioeconomic information, climate and environment issues, gender and inclusion, agriculture, infrastructure, governance and open societies.

6.     Support the planning, organisation and development of workshops, meetings and events with stakeholders;

7.       Support other related tasks as identified by the Programme Team, including record keeping as well as project follow-ups in liaison with project partners.

  • Currently enrolled in the last semesters of university degree in economics, social sciences or a related subject (industrial and other relevant engineering, business administration, international relations, natural sciences, etc.);
  • Strong communication skills in English and Spanish;
  • Organised and attentive to detail;
  • Available full-time;
  • Responsible, committed to the job;
  • Sociable, able to interact and collaborate with different teams;
  • Works well against deadlines;
  • Interested in the UK;
  • Interested in international development projects and programmes; 
  • Language: Spanish (native), English (B2 certified by IELTS or TOEFL);
  • Must have the legal status to live and work in Colombia.
  • Interested in MREL, good team work, excellent customer services and providers management;
  • Solid project management/logistics and analytic skills - an advantage.

There might be learning opportunities for improving technical and analytical skills on the job, and to participate in learning and development events organised by the Embassy.

Working hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8:30 to 17:00, Fridays 8:30 to 13:30

This is a full-time position. We adopt a flexible working policy, including working from home.

The post is available for six months.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
