The British Embassy in Warsaw is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Marketing & Communications Manager Trade & Investment - Poland / Central Europe.

To support the delivery of the Department for International Trade (DIT) objectives in Poland and Central Europe through high quality, engaging and effective communication & marketing activities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Promoting British exports to Poland and Central Europe the UK as a destination for investors via a full spectrum of modern communications channels, including social media;

  • Leading on the region’s contribution to DIT Europe’s flagship campaigns for Trade and Investment;

  • Supporting the Trade & Investment Team in Poland and Central Europe on communications and media relations including providing expert advice to Country Directors and Campaign Leads;

  • Leading on the region’s contribution to the Global Britain objective of DIT’s Regional Trade Plan for Europe, ensuring full alignment of local DIT communications with DIT Europe and HMG priorities (in consultation with Marketing & Communications Director Europe) as well as Embassy Comms Team;

  • Leading on delivery of large events and project under the GREAT campaign, including bidding for funding, cooperation with internal and external service providers and stakeholders, logistics and comms/media coverage, budget management;

  • Creating and delivering marketing plans in the run up to, during and after events;

  • Lead on the application of modern digital event management tools (i.e. Aventri) to DIT projects;

  • Generating and disseminating attractive and relevant content from DIT events;

  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of campaigns, initiatives, events and advising Head of Communications/others as relevant on lessons learnt;

  • Establishing and maintaining contact with relevant external stakeholders.


  • BA degree or higher in a related field;

  • Proven track record of success in public communications;

  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and ability to assess and initiate activities independently;

  • Full professional proficiency in Polish and English, including excellent writing skills* as well as experience in drafting engaging, speeches, articles and other forms;

  • Experience in organising successful events for senior stakeholders;

  • Experience in project management, including budgets;

  • Knowledge of and experience working with social media and other digital media and producing impactful content;

  • Ability to apply different styles of communication and tailor messaging for different audiences;

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment;

  • Strong IT skills in MS Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.



  • Experience in delivering online events/webinars and familiarity with common platforms;

  • Basic photographic, photo editing and digital graphics skills.

This is a full-time maternity cover position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for 12 months (including probation) with possibility for extension.

The gross salary for this position is PLN 8,216 gross per month. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law.

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary after 31st December 2020.

Working patterns

BE Warsaw has a strong commitment to work/life balance. Office hours are 8:30 – 16:30, staff are encouraged to leave on time, and the building is locked up at 6pm. Flexi-hours are also possible within the Embassy building’s opening hours (0730-1800).

We have mobile technology and most staff in the team work from home one day a week.
