We are currently looking to recruit a Trade & Investment Officer based in Beijing to support SDI operations in Beijing and Greater China.

This position is advertised on a fixed-term basis for two (2) years.

 


What will the jobholder do?

— Executive support:

  • Provide efficient and effective daily administration co-ordination and support for the Head of North China and Head of South & East China. This will involve planning and organising meetings and associated paperwork, travel bookings, expenses, and office management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in Northern China and handle customer enquiries professionally and appropriately.
  • Proactively develop and maintain a professional network of contacts and a customer and stakeholder engagement plan.

— Trade and investment:

  • Work with others to collate and communicate market research, intelligence, and insights.
  • Work with Scottish companies to support them to win business in China. This will involve planning and organising visits and helping companies meet potential customers.
  • Assist the Head of North China to build a pipeline of inward investment projects by identifying leads, researching company information, cold calling, establishing initial connections with companies, attending conferences, etc.
  • Help plan and organise events, including trade missions and marketing and social media campaigns.
  • Support the work of the wider Greater China and Asia Pacific teams as required
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Degree in business administration, management, economics, or related discipline.
  • Positive attitude and capability to take initiative. Able to work independently and proactively ask questions.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong team-working ability, with experience of partnership working.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese, both written and verbal.
  • Research and analysis skills, acquired in a market context.
  • Experience of working in international business or trade and investment promotion.
