Main purpose of job:

The jobholder will be leading the Technical Working Group (TWG) team in carrying out maintenance and repairs to the Foreign and Commonwealth (FCO) properties, and managing the estate projects.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

Maintenance, Project Management and Procurement 45%

  • Manage the TWG team to carry out day to day maintenance requests and carry out hands-on maintenance works.
  • On call duty for the emergency maintenance issues.
  • Liaise with the government departments on matters of electricity, water supply and refuse collection.
  • Communicate with the officers for all maintenance works and estate projects.
  • Purchase maintenance and gardening related materials from the local market.
  • Keep updating maintenance log book, maintenance request tracking sheet and post maintenance asset register.
  • Conduct site survey for maintenance projects.
  • Liaise with contractors, security team and respective persons to set suitable schedule for maintenance projects.
  • Supervise the maintenance projects to ensure that works are carried out to FCO standards and are completed in time.

Health & Safety 20%

  • Carry out Health and Safety (H&S) activities/checks for new and existing HMG properties and closely work with the Estates Engineering Manager for all H&S matters.
  • Carry out the action points from Technical Works Officer/Technical Works Supervisor report.
  • Carry out necessary Risk Assessment for the maintenance works.
  • Maintain the British Club swimming pool and make sure it is safe.
  • Manage workshop and store, and ensure those are safe and tidy.
  • Regularly inspect the fuel storage tanks and advise the Estates Manager for topping up.

Others 10%

  • Supervise event preparations.
  • Work with team members for Property Compliance Assessment (PCA) implementation. Carry out required PCA action points and keep records.
  • Occasionally carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities as required.
  • Drive the maintenance vehicles.
  • Other tasks or responsibilities as business needs require.

Resources managed (staff and expenditure): 25%

  • Line manage the TWG team – a team of 4.
  • Provide effective work assignments for TWG team and provide necessary support.
  • Graduate with a university degree or diploma relevant to the job
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally in technical work
  • Good English and Myanmar Language skills, both written and oral
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working in an international/multi-cultural organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer focus
  • Personal drive and the ability to be as self-starter as well as a team player
