Main purpose of job:

A part of the British High Commission’s Communications Department, the successful candidate will oversee the High Commission’s Global Britain Fund, and help deliver major projects and campaigns for the mission.

Roles and responsibilities:

The role will have two primary functions:

-       To manage all the projects from different sections of the High Commission, including: managing the budget (£600,000), tracking spend, liaising with London, and promoting and answering questions about the Fund

-       To help deliver the strategic communications work funded by the Fund. The main part of this in 2017 will be the High Commission’s UK-Pakistan 70 Years campaign, where – with the support of the Head of Strategic Communications – you will lead on delivering different parts of the campaign based on certain timelines and budget

For this role jobholder will need excellent project management and communications skills, as well as budget management experience.

The responsibilities comprise communications aspects of various activities, liaising with DFID, British Council, British Deputy High Commission Karachi and FCO London, planning and implementing campaigns, drafting contracts, ensuring procurement procedures according to FCO guidelines and managing budgets.

The successful candidate must have a strong academic background, relevant work experience and an active interest in, and understanding of, communications, as well as UK and Pakistan current affairs.

  • Masters level degree in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum three years of experience in a communication and / or project management role
  • Experience of budget/financial management
  • Experience of campaigns
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) in both English and Urdu – and have the flexibility to communicate with people from various backgrounds.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Imaginative, creative and passionate
  • Highly organised with an eye for detail
  • Work effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines, prioritising workloads as required
  • Be able to contribute to a dynamic team
  • A self starter
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Microsoft Excel and web browsers
  • Experience in media relations, and digital marketing/campaigning. 
  • Up to date on communications trends. 
  • Crisis management experience.
