View Vacancy - Driver and Technical Assistant, Helsinki A1 (FIN18.124)
The British Embassy in Helsinki is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Driver and Technical Assistant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the Embassy vehicles including the flag vehicle and the mini-van. An important part of the role is maintenance of the official vehicles and ensuring the vehicles and garage area are kept clean and in good condition. Technical assistance to the Estates team and wider Corporate Services team are also essential functions of this role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Driving and car maintenance
- Act as driver for the Ambassador and other staff members as required.
- Deliver correspondence between the Embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other authorities.
- Maintain the Embassy official vehicles and ensure they are kept clean and in good condition
Technical assistance to Estates team
- Purchasing and delivery of goods and equipment for Corporate Services.
- Provide assistance to the Estates team and other duties agreed with the Estates Manager
Other Corporate Services tasks as required.
- Clean driver’s licence and driving experience (cars and vans).
- Reliable and punctual.
- Positive attitude and a customer-focused approach.
- Flexible, ability to work flexible hours (including evenings).
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Good IT skills.
- Good communication skills in Finnish.
- Category C - Driving license (Not essential).
This is a full-time permanent contract of 36.25 hours per week. Working hours are Monday – Friday (9.00- 16.45).
The annual leave entitlement is 20 days, increasing to 25 days after one year’s service. Leave for temporary, contract or hourly-paid staff is also calculated on a pro-rata basis. The Embassy pays an annual holiday bonus. Embassy employees are entitled to a private medical scheme for basic healthcare services and to use the Embassy’s recreational facilities.
The appointment is subject to security clearance and the successful completion of a probationary period.
