View Vacancy - Driver / Transport Manager (01/18 PL)
Main purpose of job:
To provide a professional safe and customer focused service to internal customers. The official driver has the responsibility for conveying The High Commissioner, VIP’s and other official visitors to various locations in Mauritius. The driver will also have the responsibility in conducting admin work and delivery of various invitations and other documents on behalf of the High Commission.
Roles and responsibilities
Driving the High Commissioner to and from work and to destinations as instructed in a safe and careful manner.
Meet and greet visitors in a friendly and polite manner at the airport and other pickup points and to work collaboratively with all colleagues.
Maintain high standards keeping the vehicle clean at all times and perform daily maintenance checks prior to and after use. Routinely checking for noticeable defects and co-ordinate with the Corporate Services Team and follow up remedial action.
Accurately record journeys on the car log book and update the vehicle maintenance logbook. Keep daily running sheets, of mileage and maintain accurate records of fuel consumption. Promptly reporting all accidents and near misses to line manager
Other administrative ad hoc tasks inside and outside the High Commission, as directed by Corporate Services (e.g. transport bookings, mail deliveries).
Work independently and as a member of a team. This means being able to plan and complete tasks on time, communicate and consult effectively with individuals and groups and imparting information to others.
- Must have excellent driving skills as well as holding a proven safe driving record. Able to drive both automatic and manual vehicles.
- A good command of English language is essential.
- Possess a well developed understanding of road/traffic systems and rules in Mauritius.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office [MS Word, Excel, Outlook]; general office and administration skills.
- Work experience of at least three years in a similar capacity. Diplomatic mission/international organisation experience will be an advantage.
- An ability to effectively interpret road maps.
- Must have smart appearance and well groomed, must be highly reliable punctual, courteous and responsible.
- Customer service experience.
- A good command of French/Creole will be highly advantageous
Working patterns:
This job will require that you work odd hours at times that fall outside the normal working hours.
