Main purpose of job:

The tasks generally include the installing, repairing and maintaining water supply heating and drainage system as well as associated equipment and make sure safe and adequate water supply is available at all times. The plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and others.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components.
  • Identify required tools and special equipment.
  • Select the type and size of pipe required.
  • Repair and maintain showers, baths, w/h basins, toilets.
  • General plumbing repairs – sinks / taps.
  • Clearing blocked toilets, sink wastes and drains.
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings.
  • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls.
  • Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems.
  • Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets.
  • Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners.
  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances.
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Carry out quarterly shower head cleaning.
  • 6 monthly water temperature readings for Legionella risk assessment.
  • Check and correct pH value and disinfectant levels before use, as per  installers recommendations, follow up pool is being regularly serviced and make sure water in the pool is kept crystal clear all the time.
  • Assist store manager to prepare orders of supplies plumbing materials.
  • Perform other related duties as required and on call 24/7 as required.
  • To carry out any other tasks or instructions given by the line manager.

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to FCO Requirements and reports back to line manager/ TWS.
  • Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public.
  • Lead a work party in performing maintenance or repair work.
  • To liaise with other staff and contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed contract.
  • At least 5 years previous installation/maintenance experience.
  • Experience in Multi-trade organisation
  • A current full driving licence,
  • Basic computer literacy,  
  • Technical Craft Certificate.
