The British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Protocol Officer, Grade – A2 (L).

 

Purpose of the job:

Liaise with the Jordanian Government departments on behalf of the Embassy in order to process all Residencies, Income tax, Shipments, VIP visits, Airport passes and all vehicle related issues for the British Embassy staff members.

 

Main Responsibilities:

To process the following on behalf of staff members working at the British Embassy under the direction of the Protocol Manager:

• Vehicle registrations and renewals

• Insurance

• Vehicle Services

• Ownership transfers

• Issue of new vehicles from the free zone

• Accident claims

• Process vehicle fines

• Arrange white plates and renew then yearly

• Arrange temporary visas for non diplomatic staff members

• Arrange permanent residencies for non diplomatic staff members

• Issue Income tax numbers

• Arrange Shipments

• Assist with protocol elements of VIP visits

• Issue airport passes

• Process all invoices to the relevant department to ensure payment

• Regularly update spreadsheets and job logs for tracking purposes

You will need to keep accurate records and a track of where the protocol processes are in relation to new arrivals at the embassy and proactively ensure that documents are processed correctly and on time.

In carrying out the above duties you will work with and manage a more junior Protocol Messenger. You will need to set clear objectives for them, monitor their performance – giving timely feedback and conducting regular meetings with them as part of the appraisal process.

Essential:
• Fluent oral and written English and Arabic
• Valid Driving Licence for Jordan
• At least 2 years of customer service experience
• Good IT Skills (Outlook, MS Office)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Bachelor Degree in a similar field
• Flexibility and excellent communication skills - presenting a professional image of self and Embassy.  Conveying information accurately and concisely.

Desirable:
• Line management experience

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The position is full-time, at 37 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.

Pay is on the Embassy A2 (L) scale, starting at JOD 1075 per month depending on the candidate’s skills and experience. The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 21 days (pro rated) plus 14 public holidays.
