Main purpose of job:

To be a member of the Press and Public Affairs Team collaborating in external and internal activities, according to the British Embassy in Bogotá objectives. To collaborate in the Embassy's communications section, reporting and under the supervision of the Deputy Communications Officer, with responsibilities and accountability in the areas of press and digital.

Roles and responsibilities:

Internal Communications (40%)

  • Internal Newsletter production.
  • Updating TV screens weekly.
  • Logistics and settings of internal events.
  • Coverage of internal events.

Digital & Design (30%)

  • Create multimedia material required by anyone in the office.
  • Support digital work on events, when required.
  • Monitoring of digital activities in the region when required.
  • To download and produce multimedia material such as videos and photographs when required.

Press (30%)

  • Gathering and drafting information of initiatives related to HMA, DHM, Political, Prosperity, Defence, Global, and British Nationals.
  • Drafting of press releases on key priorities in coordination with Deputy Communications Officer.
  • Translate documents when required.
  • Monitor daily national media.
  • Local and national media databases management.
  • Journalistic coverage of events for internal and external purposes. 
  • Create news media reports after each event or official visit.
  • Currently enrolled in the last semesters of a Bachelor's Degree in Communications or a related subject (Journalism, Advertising, etc.)
  • Available full-time.
  • Good knowledge of photography and video-editing software.
  • Responsible and committed to the job.
  • Sociable, able to interact and collaborate with different teams.
  • Works well under pressure and against deadlines.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Interest in the UK.
  • Graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Knowledge of world affairs.
  • Knowledge of social media.

  • There might be learning opportunities for improving video-editing skills and/or social media skills.
  • Working hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8:30 to 17:00 and Fridays 8:30 to 13:30.
  • The initial contract is for 5 months, is possible to renew the contract for 6 months more.
