To provide administrative support on the day to day management and promotion of the regional Commonwealth programmes – due to deliver across the South Pacific’s nine Commonwealth countries. The successful candidate will work closely with the Projects Team to ensure that all aspects of the projects are managed effectively, this will include supporting finance, reporting and communications tasks. In addition, the successful candidate will also be responsible for providing an excellent level of administrative support to the Deputy High Commissioner and will act as a deputy to the IT Support Officer.

This is a great job for a highly motivated individual with strong administrative and organisation skills.  The role will suit someone who can work independently to deliver high quality work and is able to successfully manage a diverse task list.

Project Assistance

  • To support the efficient and effective administration of the BHC project portfolio across the Pacific Commonwealth countries
  • Working with the Projects Team to coordinate reporting with project implementers, produce forecasts and updates to the London-based team and external stakeholders
  • To identify and help deliver communications activities, helping to promote and raise the profile of the projects across the Pacific
  • Maintain a calendar of project related events and deadlines
  • To support project-related events, visits and public diplomacy activities

PA to the Deputy High Commissioner

  • Managing the Deputy High Commissioner’s diary and appointments
  • Planning & organising meetings, events & travel

Deputy IT Support Officer

  • Provide IT support to the wider BHC mission (training will be provided)
  • To assist the IT Support Officer to ensure that networks run smoothly and help troubleshoot issues when they arise
  • Have excellent administrative and organisational skills, be accurate and attentive to detail
  • Be able to use strong forward planning to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think creatively and take a proactive role in supporting team objectives
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral
  • Experience providing project support in the Pacific
  • Proven PA skills

This is a two-year fixed-term employment.

Open to Fiji citizens, permanent residents, and partners/dependents of UK-based diplomatic staff currently posted in Fiji. Interstate applicants will be required to meet their own travel and relocation expenses. No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
