The British Embassy in Spain is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas.

The British Embassy in Madrid is seeking a creative and dynamic team player to fill a new position in the Communications team. This is a multi-faceted role: we are looking for someone to design and run campaigns, and create digital and graphic content promoting the UK-Spain bilateral relationship. You will work closely with the Head of Campaigns on the GREAT campaign in Spain and other high profile campaigns, with the Digital Manager in content production, and with the Communications Officer in designing and branding material for the UK in Spain Network.

We are looking for someone with experience of working on campaigns, with social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and experience in graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite). You will be a collaborative team player, confident in liaising with colleagues and partners (including at a senior level), and be flexible and creative, able to effectively manage your time and deliver results at pace and to deadline.

The selected candidate will work in our dynamic and friendly Communications Team, working closely with other Embassy teams and across the wider UK in Spain Network of Consulates (including being part of our crisis comms response). There are potential opportunities for travel both within Spain and to the UK.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience of digital communications, with a focus on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
  • Experience of graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Ability to work across teams and be credible with senior colleagues and partners.

  • Strong organisational skills, good eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities, working out of hours.

  • Willingness to travel within Spain and potentially the UK when required.

  • Experience of Public Relations and/or Marketing.

  • Knowledge of and interest in UK-Spain relations, UK and Spanish politics, news and current affairs in Spain.

  • Awareness of the work of the British Embassy and Consulates across Spain.

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification.
