The British Embassy in Cairo is seeking an Assistant to work in the political section to start immediately.

Main purpose of the job:

The main purpose of the job is to support a strong UK-Egypt relationship by helping with clerical and administration tasks and providing the embassy with research into political and international relations. The candidate will work as part of a high performing political team with regular access to senior staff in the Embassy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• General administration support including arranging meetings, organising files and updating databases.

• Research into political events and developments in Egypt, including regional issues.

• Provide support to political section in other areas as required, including assistance with visits from the UK.

• Excellent English and Arabic written and verbal communication skills;

• Excellent research and briefing skills;

• Strong organisational skills

• Experience of working in a political field;

• A degree from a reputable university in a relevant discipline, such as political sciences;

• A strong understanding of political, security and foreign policy issues in Egypt;

• Ability to be a team player, flexible, and work to tight deadlines;

• Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Remuneration:

The position is A2 (L) and the starting Gross Salary is USD 804.39 per month subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations based on a 36 hours per week. This is a full-time, One (1) Year fixed-term contract. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
