View Vacancy - Major Events Intern (PRT18.454)
The British Embassy in Lisbon is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. Currently, the Political Team is offering an internship of 5 months.
The intern will assist in the delivery of special Embassy events, within the Political Team, providing general support to the Programme and Campaigns Officer on the planning and implementation of Official Visits and on the UK participation on a high profile technology venue, in Lisbon.
This internship will provide the successful candidate with a unique working experience at the level of Events and Project Management in International Diplomacy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake events organisation and project implementation duties;
- Liaise with external contacts to ensure supervision of on-site arrangements;
- Carry out post-event follow up and evaluation actions;
- Support the preparation and coordination of general logistics of official visits;
- Perform day-to-day administrative work;
- Assist with other ad hoc duties, such as performing research work on indicated topics and gather requested data for the planned events;
- Fluent in English and Portuguese, oral and written;
- Some experience of organising events or managing projects;
- Good MS Office skills;
- Good communication skills, attention to detail;
- Excellent time management and ability to perform to deadlines;
- Proactivity and dynamism, self-initiative and facility to work well in a team;
- Flexibility and personal resilience;
- Capable of multitasking;
This is a full-time, 5 month internship contract for 5 working days (35 hours net) per week.
The expected start date is 15 October 2018, however, the successful candidate should be available to start as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Portugal in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits.
