View Vacancy - IT Support Officer - Cape Town (35/18 CPT)
Main purpose of job:
To provide IT support for the British Consulate General in Cape Town, as well as providing ad hoc cover for other sites in South Africa. This encompasses management of user accounts, assisting end users in using their IT, resolving faults, maintaining the local ICT infrastructure and managing information and assets.
Roles and responsibilities:
Provide support to end users by identifying and resolving faults within the local ICT infrastructure and working with external contractors to resolve a variety of technical issues.
Support the local infrastructure by installing, configuring and testing ICT equipment and conducting housekeeping tasks on the local area network (LAN).
Ensuring all cabling and wires are tidy and comply with health and safety standards.
Manage user accounts, file permissions and mailboxes for end users.
Maintain other ICT assets including WiFi Networks and non-corporate devices at our offices in Cape Town.
Managing relationships and accounts with 3rd party suppliers.
IT Business Continuity Planning at our fallback locations.
Other support to the IT Team including logging faults on a local database, maintaining inventories, sharing knowledge and skills with end users and prioritising the daily workload.
Excellent level of written and spoken English
Proficiency in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016
A general interest in ICTs and a willingness to share IT knowledge with others
Previous experience working in customer service and /or IT Support
Knowledge and experience of ICT Network Infrastructures
Learning and development opportunities :
The successful candidate will be required to do an in-house training course.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their skills through coaching and internal training. There may be the possibility to obtain funding for work-related external study.
- The British High Commission pays in full for the Key Care Plus option on Discovery Health for staff including spouses/partners and dependants.
- Once you have successfully completed your probation the British High Commission will contribute 9% of your monthly salary to a Provident Fund.
- Annual leave entitlement of 25 days
- Working hours per week of 36.5
The successful candidate will be permanently based at the British Consulate General, Cape Town, but must be willing to work from offices in South Africa when required.
