View Vacancy - Maintenance Officer (DNK19.087)
The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Maintenance Officer to join its’ Corporate Services Team.
Reporting directly to the Estates Officer, your role is focused on support for the Embassy’s Estates work. You will be responsible for carrying out proactive and reactive routine maintenance of non-Residential and Residential facilities following FCO Health and Safety Standards. You’ll need to work with internal and external stakeholders and be able to work independently and effectively as part of a small team. This is also a very practical role so you’ll also have a good working knowledge and experience of electrical, plumbing and decoration work.
In more detail, main responsibilities will include:
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks including but not limited to: Repairs, re-painting, decorating, basic electrical and plumbing; furniture removal; meeting room set-up; maintenance of office equipment; procurement from local suppliers; clearing snow and leaves from Embassy compound;
- Carry out Health and Safety checks and procedures. Work with existing Embassy systems e.g. databases and spreadsheets and implement work according to agreed standards and procedures;
- Back-up driver to the Ambassador;
- On-call requirement every other week.
- Advanced level of English and Danish (both oral and written);
- Experience as a Handyman or in building maintenance or a trade skill;
- Ability to follow guidelines and procedures;
- Full driving license with a clean record;
- Experienced driver;
- Have a customer service focus;
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage competing priorities;
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel);
- Work effectively as part of a small team.
This is a full-time permanent contract (35 hours per week).
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorization for Denmark in order to apply.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Copenhagen is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Danish employment law.
Visa / passport requirements: must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Denmark and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
