Main purpose of job:

You will be in charge of the embassy social media accounts. You will need to produce and post creative and exciting content that will appeal to our target audiences and deliver key messages. You will develop the audiences of our social media channels to ensure they match the objectives of our communications campaigns. You will be the embassy expert on social media providing advice across the embassy and help the development of the Embassy Social media strategy. You will also help the wider media and communications team deliver a range of exciting media and public diplomacy events.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

You will join a small capable and creative media and communications teams. Our role is to manage all public facing aspects of the Embassy’s work, including managing traditional media, marketing campaigns around tourism and education, and running our embassy social media channels.

40% Social Media Content Creation

You will create and post engaging and innovative content across all of the embassy social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You will need to create visually appealing photographs and videos and write posts which will speak to our target audiences. You will also be responsible for working with London and the regional digital team to ensure our channels are posting appropriate centrally created content. You will also be responsible for conducting the conversation with our followers replying to messages and reaching out to people we want to speak to. You will also be looking for innovative ways to interact with our audiences, including arranging live and interactive discussions, creative use of competitions, and spotting opportunities for the embassy to make viral content.

20% Digital Strategy

You will be monitoring social media and digital trends. You will closely monitor our audience profile and keep up to date with embassy communications objectives. You will work with the Head of Media and Comms to develop a strategy that ensures we are delivering the right messages, through the right channels, to the right people, and look to grow our audiences to deliver maximum comms impact. You will also evaluate what we do, producing period reports of our performance across our social media channels and making recommendations for improvement.

15% Listening

You will be our eyes and ears. You will monitor conversations and reactions to the content we post and on topics of interest to the wider embassy and advice teams around the embassy of tone and content of debates. You will also look at using social media monitoring tools to improve our listening and responsiveness.

15% Helping the Media and Comms Team

You will provide general support to the team across a wide range of media and communications activity. This may include Ministerial and VIP visits, accompanying the Ambassador as he travels around Indonesia, helping the embassy respond to a crisis such as a natural disaster, running press conferences, and public events.

10% Ideas

  • Degree from recognisable university;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a digital marketing and/or social media role
