Main purpose of job:

Exceptional opportunity to work on a high profile visit, at the centre of one of the biggest foreign missions in Pakistan. You will support the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) delivering the visit.

The SRO will depend on your support to deliver a high impact visit. You will provide a mixture of strategic support, effective administration, diary management, and be a central point of contact in and out of the mission. You will work closely with the wider Visit unit, and across the whole of the High Commission.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

The successful candidate will need to:-

  • Be well organised, able to work quickly and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Have well developed interpersonal skills to work well with the wider visit unit to ensure they deliver their objectives. You will need to be a good team player, who can influence colleagues and deliver through them.
  • Be able to deal politely firmly and effectively with senior Pakistani contacts and colleagues
  • Be absolutely trustworthy and discrete.
  • Have creative and effective problem-solving skills and pay attention to details
  • Have excellent typing skills and experience in using MS 2016 Office suite
  • Manage the Visit Unit’s mailbox and the paper flow in and out of the office, prioritising, flagging urgent issues, ensuring efficient turnaround of papers and that work is dealt with promptly and by the most appropriate person.
  • Act as secretary to Visit Unit and Visit Steering Group, minuting the meetings and updating the Action Tracker This will include working closely with the High Commissioner, Deputy High Commissioner and their Private Offices.
  • Manage budgets, to ensure accountability for spend.
  • Manage diaries: including liaison with mission staff, external contacts and partners. You will need to ensure the SRO is adequately prepared for meetings.
  • Be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and pressing issues.
  • Be comfortable working under pressure and have demonstrated resilience in previous similar experiences.

Salary Details:  

For BHC candidates, the Local BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. 

For other than BHC candidates, Basic Salary will be ­­­­­­PKR 199943 per month plus 80,000 security allowance minus tax abatement of PKR 4997.

Holds one of the following passports: UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed for this post is Official Sensitive. Due to the security requirements of the position applicants should be British, US, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian or EU national who have spent at least two of the last five years in their home countries. Applicants must be willing to undergo the clearance procedure, and your application should set out your nationality and places of residence for the past five years.
