The British Embassy in Tunis currently has a vacancy for a Security Guard; grade S2 to start as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will play an important role within the security team, locally engaged guards’ forces are the first line of defence; our security guards play a key role in protecting staff and buildings. They are there to provide safety and security.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible of controlling, monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons. To guard against theft and maintain security of premises.

• Patrolling duties at the Embassy and staff Residences and

• Respond to UKB staff Emergency calls.

• Checking for suspicious packages etc. and random external checks.

• Monitoring CCTV: Real time and reviewing events.

• Access control of pedestrian, Vehicle and emergency gates.

• Searching visitors and vehicles.

• Registering and scanning mail and parcels delivered to the embassy assist with Dip bag handling.

• Escorting visitors, contractors and deliveries.

• Checking guest lists and dealing with car parking during events organized at the Residence or Embassy.

• Answering telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information.

• Monitor and investigate fire and security alarms.

• Reporting of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.

• Maintaining the daily record sheets: Duty Register, Vehicle Log, Arrival & Departure Log, Random Search Register, Key Register and Incident Register.

• Dealing with customers by provising information or guidance.

• Responsible for the safety of visitors in case of emergencies.

• Locally engaged guards are responsible for supervising and providing guidance for temporary recruited contractor security guards both at the Embassy and at the Residence.

• Registering the entrance and leaving of staff and visitors.

• Issuing passes to visitors.

• Responsible for doing a weekly alarm test (fire, bomb and incident) with coordination of the receptionist and register it in the log provided.

• Responsible for answering the fire alarms; reading addresses, deactivating and reset the fire panel.

Managing a Quality Service - Effectiveness in this area is about being organised to deliver service objectives and striving to improve the quality of service, taking account of diverse customer needs and requirements.

• Fluent in Arabic both oral and written

• Good in English both oral and written

• Legal driving experience with valid driving license

• Physically fit to carry out duties and maintain this at all times

• Previous experience in uniformed services, commercial security or customer focussed industry background with checkable references

• Can work as an individual and within a team

• Knowledge of physical security barriers, policy and procedures

• Computer literate (especially in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

• Previous security or support industry experience

Working hours and remuneration:

Conditioned working hours are 42 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00, including weekends and holidays.

The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 850 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 1,053. This is a full-time, permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.

The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.

Eligibility:

Candidate must be eligible to work and reside in Tunisia immediately.
