Main purpose of job:


This is an intern position to enable an student or early career professional to gain experience working in the British Embassy Caracas focussing on international trade. They will be given the project of running DIT’s communication strategy and support the work of DIT team colleagues to promote business opportunities for trade and investment .


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

 

•   To lead on commercial marketing and social media strategy as part of the Embassy communications team. To be in charge of the effective, consistent, and appropriate utilisation and development of web and social media content by section colleagues; to implement marketing strategies for promoting business opportunities for the UK. 40%


•   To provide effective advice, support and assistance to UK companies wishing to do business in Venezuela in all sectors in which DIT team colleagues are responsible. 40%


•   To assist and provide logistical support to section colleagues for the fulfilment of proposed targets and projects. 10%


•   To be point of contact with the Venezuelan and British Chamber of Commerce Executive Director on implementing programmes and activities with the Embassy.   10%

 

We are looking for a student or early career professional interested in a career in international business, with related academic qualifications, recently obtained or studying towards obtaining. Candidates must show a clear link between their academic goals and the training offered by this internship. They will want to contribute to the team but also learn about the challenges and opportunities of international business and working in an embassy.



Language requirements:

 

Language: Spanish and English 

Level of language required:  Fluent written and spoken in both

As an intership this is a training role and offers a good opportunity to learn more about trade and investment in a challenging international environment. DIT offers an extensive package of training, both job related and developmental. Much is delivered through online learning.
