View Vacancy - Press and Political Affairs Assistant (MLT18.630)
The British High Commission in Malta is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now looking for a Press and Political Affairs Assistant.
The main purposed of this position is to:
Assist in BHC’s communications activities through. Regular media monitoring, strong contacts with local media organisations and drafting of speeches, online posts, press releases etc.
Manage the High Commission’s online presence eg facebook, twitter and website
Logistical and administrative assistance to the Political Team including research, maintenance of databases and records.
To assist in managing Political Team’s events eg press conferences, high level visits, roundtables etc.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Social Media management
Maintenance of and advice on local media networks
Administrative and Research support of and for Political Team
Speech/article writing
Event Management
Liaison with visiting communications officers and networking with colleagues in the Europe network
Professional experience directly relevant to the key duties described above including drafting, organising and communication skills
Good understanding of Maltese media arena
Fluent English and Maltese language skills
A background in journalism, PR, media, communications
Existing network of media contacts
Confident personality with can-do attitude
Critical thinker and a personality that works well in a team
Knowledge and experience in using social media in a professional capacity
Experience of organising events
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract of 12 months with possibility of renewal.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
