Main purpose of job:


The core purpose of this post is to bring a structured approach to UK and US capability cooperation and ensure coherence across our bilateral activities.


 


Roles and responsibilities:


 


  • Lead on developing coherent plans for BDS to achieve the UK and US’ capability cooperation agenda, applying appropriate project and programme management techniques. Work with both UK and US counterparts to develop practical bilateral governance. This will require close working with a wide set of UK and US government officials to produce high quality briefing products, enabling senior leadership to take well informed decisions.

 


  • Lead stakeholder analysis and mapping activities to identify priorities for bilateral engagement and develop plans to build and maintain key relationships.  

 


  • Support the BDS’ wider Defence Acquisition and Technology team in integrating strategic planning across capability cooperation, science and technology, acquisition, and defence trade.

 


  • Strengthen mechanisms to manage the frequency and timing of visits to the US by the UK’s defence capability community and ensure these account for and deliver cross-cutting objectives.

 


  • Develop and broaden the UK’s network by building a personal network of contacts across the US defence community, including officials and military officers, Congressional Staff and academia. Promote the UK’s key messages and produce analysis and reporting to ensure UK stakeholders understand key developments in US defence capability strategy.
