View Vacancy - Senior Key Account Manager and Business Development (DEU642)
The British Consulate in Düsseldorf is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Senior Key Account Manager and Business Development for the Renewables and Logistics Portfolio, B3 (L) within the Renewables & Infrastructure Team based in Düsseldorf.
The UK government supports British companies to export and works to attract high quality investment to the UK. The Department for International Trade is the Ministry tasked with developing, coordinating and delivering the trade and investment policy to promote UK business across the globe. As part of that remit, overseas representatives at British diplomatic missions in over 120 markets support the delivery of investment and trade promotion. One of the key sectors in the German network is the Renewable Technology and Infrastructure portfolio. This is an exciting time to be joining the international team and there are great opportunities to exploit.
The successful candidate will build and maintain strong network contacts in order to develop enduring and successful commercial partnerships between Germany and British interests. He/she will identify and actively target key companies and stakeholders in the industry sectors covered by the Renewable Technology and Infrastructure team. This includes customer relationship- and project management as well as giving advice and assistance to German and British companies to facilitate and support business. The role involves supporting the team in strategy development and implementation.
The successful candidate will think strategically, see the big picture, but is also very strong on organisation, delivery and stakeholder management. The Senior Key Account Manager and Business Development will play a pivotal role in the Renewable Technology and Infrastructure team. There is much scope for creative thinking, new ideas and high levels of personal autonomy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead client and stakeholder engagement to increase the value of UK exports to the German market and encourage German investment by building strong relations with key companies, including at the most senior levels of decision making;
- Provide high quality advice to German and British companies on market opportunities, challenges and regulation;
- Interact with internal and external stakeholders – ranging from multipliers, other UK government departments to colleagues in the Germany network and other overseas teams;
- Identify, organise and manage participation at relevant platforms including events and partnership opportunities;
- Develop a business plan and shape the strategy around the relevant industry sectors and support the sector team with reporting of market trends
- Fluent English and German (both written and spoken, minimum of C2 level for CEFR framework*)
- Self-Starter – ability to work well on own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills including at senior level
- Ability to work under pressure, delivering results against agreed targets
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, disciplined in meeting tight deadlines
- Project management experience
- Good knowledge of the German and UK business environments
- Good IT skills, especially MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to research and analyse complex information
- Experience in renewables, construction, logistics or infrastructure sectors
- Experience of Customer Relationship Management software
This is a full-time position of five working days 37.5 hours per week , for an initial contract period of two years, which may be extended by mutual agreement.
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
