This is a unique opportunity to work at the very heart of a large Embassy with a dynamic programme of bilateral and regional activity.  You will be a key member of the small team working closely with the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission to deliver the UK’s objectives on prosperity, security and consular matters.  The Embassy is a modern, diverse and inclusive employer where everyone contributes to realising an Embassy Vision based on the principles of Opportunity, Respect and Excellence.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Assist the Residence Manager/Social Secretary and Personal Assistant to Her Majesty’s Ambassador and to the Deputy Head of Mission
  • Assisting in basic administrative duties (Photocopying, fixing appointments, following up on invitations, inputting contact details)
  • Assist in dealing effectively with all correspondence (telephone, email and post)
  • Assist in diary management and arrangement of external and internal official meetings
  • Assist in completion and record maintenance of letters
  • Provide cover for British Ambassador’s Personal Assistant and Social Secretary/Residence Manager during annual leave/sick absence
  • Maintaining the Contacts Database
  • Other ad hoc activities including organisation of meetings, events – including evening receptions, lunches, dinners and the Queen’s Birthday Party in June 2018.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills with a good standard of English
  • Initiative to solve problems, raise matters of concern and seek guidance where necessary
  • A good problem solver, able to work independently using personal judgement
  • Able to organise and prioritise a heavy workload
  • Assertive, courteous and able to handle demanding people
  • Proficiency in Windows 10/Microsoft Office 2016 and database management preferred

This is being advertised as a full time internship for five (5) months, with a stipend of PhP10,500 per month.
