Main purpose of job:

As an integral part of UK Visas and Immigration, the Visa Support Assistant (VSA) will provide clerical support to the Entry Clearance operation in order to achieve internal and external customer service targets.  The VSA will ensure personal targets are met on a daily basis and enhance delivery through self-development and sharing best practice.

Roles and responsibilities:

Delivering Results

  • Linking correspondence with relevant records.
  • File management.
  • Data Checking.
  • Assisting in visa writing and passport despatch.
  • Document verification.

Customer Focus

  • Know who their customers are and what they want.
  • Deal with all customers fairly and courteously.
  • Act with professionalism in all circumstances.
  • Keep customers informed, letting them know if their needs can or cannot be met.
  • Refer queries to more senior staff when appropriate.
  • Accept and act on feedback.

Working with others

  • Work effectively and supportively with colleagues, both individually and in a team.
  • Treat everyone with consideration and respect, regardless of work pressure.
  • Contribute to effective team working and morale when the opportunity arises.

What we do:

The UK Visas and Immigration is responsible for protecting the UK’s borders and managing migration to the UK. 

New Delhi is one of three visa issuing operations in India.  India is UK Visas and Immigration UK largest market and Visa work in India is seldom anything other than high profile with significant interest from the UK diaspora, the Home Affairs Committee, the most senior Ministers and officials, and the media.

 EDUCATION

  • 12th Pass or Higher Secondary Education.
  • Good communicators with a good knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • IT literate.

EXPERIENCE

  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Office procedures.

Fluency in Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati and Nepalese would be of particular benefit (but not mandatory).
