The British Embassy in Bratislava is part of a network, representing British interests overseas. We are looking for a International Liaison Adviser to join the NCA (National Crime Agency).

The main purpose of the job will be to provide support to the International Liaison Officer of the UK’s NCA based in Bratislava. The person recruited for this role will be responsible for carrying out a range of administrative duties as well as a variety of other tasks detailed below.

The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in an environment where time-critical actions can make great demands upon staff; this means that the post can sometimes be both exciting and challenging. The job requires proven administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to manage confidential matters.

Main roles and responsibilities:

Facilitate the successful exchange of operational information to support NCA activities and bilateral operations:

  • Ensure intelligence on Serious Organised Crime (SOC) is shared with relevant law enforcement agencies;
  • Identify the right law enforcement contact and exchange the operational activities;
  • Provide support to the International Liaison Officer (ILO) on operational tasks;
  • Gather operational information for law enforcement agencies in the UK and in all relevant countries.

Identify and support all the NCA priorities, the Country SOC Plan and the Country Plan:

  • Arrange productive meetings with relevant stakeholders for operational and strategic purposes to ensure that bilateral information sharing is effective;
  • Ensure the cooperation with all law enforcement partners and contacts at Ministries is strong;
  • Organise and actively participate in visits from UK Ministers, HO and NCA colleagues;
  • Organise and participate in capacity building events and courses.

Ensure the smooth running of the office:

  • Manage and monitor the NCA budget;
  • Ensure all documents related to office expenditure are submitted accurately;
  • Manage the daily tasks and calendar;
  • Act as interpreter for ILO  and visitors and translator to/from Czech and Slovak to/from English.
  • Fluency in English, Slovak and Czech (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*)
  • University education in Law, International Relations, Journalism, or Business Administration;
  • Excellent organisation skills with a keen eye for detail;
  • Good IT skills, in particular the ability to order and analyse data utilising the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • A high level of discretion and integrity.
  • Prior experience of a law enforcement or security environment.
  • Minimum 3 year experience in administrative, financial or other similar roles;
  • Fluency in Hungarian and German

This is a full-time position until 31 March 2023, with a probation period of 3 months.

The monthly salary for this position is € 1,966.31 gross, payable 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
