The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a EU Policy Advisor. A fascinating job has opened up at the British Embassy for a  EU Policy Advisor to provide advice on EU matters including of course Brexit. Where does Ireland stand in the debate on the future of Europe? What does Ireland want from a future UK-EU security partnership? If these are the kinds of issues that interest you, and areas in which you can bring prior knowledge, insights and contacts, then we would welcome an application from you.

The UK is leaving the European Union, but maintaining a close economic and security relationship with the EU is vital to both UK and EU interests. Getting this right is even more important to Ireland than any other EU member state, and is critical to the UK-Irish bilateral relationship too. This role will play an important part in the UK’s efforts to achieve this.  Policy makers in No. 10 Downing Street, the Department for Exiting the EU and relevant Departments require regular insights and analysis on Irish positions and you will work with senior colleagues to provide much of the Embassy’s reporting. You will either already have an established network of contacts within Ireland across government, academia and civil society, or will be able to develop them quickly.

The successful candidate will join the Embassy’s Chancery team, working closely with the Ambassador, the Deputy Head of Mission and the First Secretaries working on EU Exit and Security. You will develop a close working relationship with a number of officials in London including with colleagues in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Department for Exiting the European Union and the Home Office. The Embassy is a vibrant place to work, with a commitment to work-life balance and a range of excellent learning and development opportunities.
