Main purpose of job: 

To be a key member of the BDHC Bengaluru Corporate Services team and ensure efficient management and delivery of the BDHC Bengaluru Corporate Services functions including IT, Estates, HR, Security, Finance, Protocol & Visits & Contract management at BDHC Bengaluru including collation of management information, assessing customer satisfaction, and liaising with other CS teams in the wider India network, 1HMG Partners on the FCDO platform, as well as the SAAD (South Asia and Afghanistan Directorate) regional CS Hubs (Finance, HR and Procurement), GTPC (Global transaction Processing centre) Manila and KTD (Knowledge and Technology Directorate), UK.

Roles and Responsibilities:

IT:(45%)

You will be the IT Support Officer for the British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) Bengaluru.  You will provide critical day-to-day support for the efficient and effective running of the FCDO’s IT network as IT Support Officer (ITSO) for the ‘Official’ tier and perform systems administration, procurement and maintenance tasks as stipulated by the FCDO guidelines.

You will be the focal point for anything ‘IT’ including handling IT induction for new staff, queries to resolution of IT issues in conjunction with the UK IT Help Desk and other IT stakeholders and making sure IT security procedures and processes are followed.

You will be a focal point for all things ‘Telecom’ including procurement, administration and maintenance tasks as stipulated by FCDO guidelines. This includes mobile telephony as well.  

You will also be responsible for recording and maintaining the FCDO and Standalone IT inventory at BDHC Bengaluru, providing year end Information Assurance on IT equipment and security to the head of post.

You will be responsible for promoting and project managing FCDO (KTD) IT programmes, campaigns and tools at BDHC Bengaluru liaising with varied stakeholders across the India network and in the UK.

You will be an active participant of the ITSO community building relationships, sharing of best practices and cascading information to the BDHC Bengaluru team as appropriate.

Security:(25%)

You will be responsible for day-to-day management of the contracted security guard force at the BDHC, ensuring they are undertaking their duties to the required standards at all times and dealing with visitors professionally and courteously. You will also be responsible for ensuring the contractor maintains Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s) by monitoring performance constantly.

You will also manage the emergency communications, ensuring they are regularly tested and available at all times.

As the Post Security Manager (PSM) you will assist the Post Security Officer (PSO) and the CSM with day to day security related operations, Post Security Committee meetings and be the custodian of the Post Security Regulations of BDHC Bengaluru.

Protocol & Transport:(20%)

You will ensure smooth functioning of the Transport team ensuring optimum utilisation of the team to meet post needs.

You will line manage 2 members of the Transport team ensuring effective performance by following FCDO’s performance management system and good line manager campaign.

You will also assist the CSM & Front Office Executive with documents pertaining to Protocol to be submitted at the ministry and work closely with the protocol officer at post.

Contract Management & Resilience:(10%)

You will be the contract manager for IT, Transport and Security contracts at post ensuring contracts are managed effectively as per FCDO guidelines.

You will also support the Corporate Services Manager for any ad hoc requirement relating to CS functions and deputise for them in their absence.

Language requirements:  

Language: English and knowledge of local language is preferred.

  • A confident self-starter, with proven energy and initiative in overcoming obstacles, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise with minimal supervision.
  • A people manager with at least 2 years of experience. Excellent team working skills, with strong ability to build co-operative working relationships across a large network, including outside of the British High Commission.
  • Good interpersonal skills; someone who can build contacts and can negotiate effectively, including with senior staff.
  • Willingness to learn and develop. 

Education:

Graduate in any discipline with at least 2 years of working experience. Ability to understand and trouble shoot IT operations.

Desirable:

Strong IT and people management skills.

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be INR 43,901 per month plus 12% provident fund and 6% SuperAnnuation Fund.
