Main purpose of job:

 



The British Consulate in São Paulo is recruiting for one DIT Financial Services Commercial intern and one FCO Financial Service Policy intern to the Brazil Network’s Prosperity group.


 


The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) has overall responsibility for promoting UK trade across the world and attracting foreign investment. We are a specialised government body with responsibility for negotiating international trade policy, supporting business, as well as delivering an outward-looking trade diplomacy strategy.


 


Working for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the successful candidate will give assistance to policy formation. They will also support the delivery of the Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) and will be required to provide administrative support to the team and to the Head of Prosperity São Paulo.


 


You will have the opportunity to participate at commercial meetings, develop initiatives regarding policy and regulation in order to develop your professional skills and experience to enhance your future career prospects.


 

 

Roles and responsibilities

 



  • Organising travel agendas and logistic arrangements;
  • Provide support to the organisation of meetings and activities for team members and government visitors;
  • Provide support to the organisation of events such as trade missions, seminars and official visits;
  • Assisting in the preparation of market research reports, briefings and visiting programmes;
  • Accompanying meetings with Brazilian and UK companies, both virtually and in person;
  • Analysing trade data, news, and sector information related to the relevant sectors;
  • Providing administrative support to the team;
  • Keeping and updating records of interactions with clients on Client Relationship Management systems, under the guidance of the sector analyst.
  • Conducting research, providing support on identifying regulatory and policy issues relating to Financial Services and Infrastructure;
  • Providing support on promoting the UK’s wider economic and political objectives;

 


 


The position will suit an energetic, motivated self-starter with an interest in the sector. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work under pressure both independently and as part of a cohesive team. We also expect strong organisational skills and attention to detail.


Essential on arrival:

 

  • We encourage candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree – in areas such as Economics, International Relations, Administration, Marketing, Public Policy, Law, Social Sciences or similar subjects;
  • Fluent English, with excellent writing and speaking capabilities;
  • Fluent Portuguese, with excellent writing and speaking capabilities;
  • Strong research, reading comprehension and attention to detail;
  • Team-working skills, opened to learn and receive feedback.

Desirable:


  • Any past internship or professional experiences, particularly if working at a commercial role or any public organisation.
