The British High Commission is looking for a well-organised and efficient person to join our busy and vibrant team. The Administrative Officer/Official Driver will be responsible for routine office administration at the British High Commission and will be required to perform regular driving duties for the British High Commissioner.

The role includes working closely with the Corporate Services Officer and Events and Engagement Officer on maintaining office inventories, assisting on Post Compliance Assessments and supporting on official events. The successful applicant will also provide support to estates management and be responsible for routine driving duties for office administration, including dispatches, procurement and collecting visitors.

The successful applicant will be required to drive the High Commissioner to daytime and evening engagements and be responsible for maintaining all official vehicles, including monitoring servicing requirements.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Administration support duties, including dispatching, procurement and managing office stock and stationery inventories
  • Providing support to estates management in the office and BHC Residence, including liaising with contractors on behalf of the Corporate Services department
  • Provide assistance to the IT Support Officer
  • Support Events and Engagement officer by assisting with event set up and procurement
  • Support Corporate Services with achieving post compliance on health and safety
  • Maintenance of official vehicles
  • Driving duties for the High Commissioner between Residence and office and to official events
  • Clean Class 2 driving license
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with team and external stakeholders
  • Confidence, flexibility and ability to cope under pressure and with changing priorities
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and basic IT literacy
  • Creole desirable
