View Vacancy - Head of Trade and Investment - Monterrey
Lead the trade and investment team in the British Consulate Monterrey to develop business opportunities throughout Mexico for UK companies in Future Cities, Automotive and Advanced Engineering and to promote and represent our Prosperity and other objectives in Nuevo Leon.
Lead the DIT mobility contribution to the Embassy Future Cities Strategy (50%)
- Develop and deliver a programme of activity to support UK mobility companies (eg low carbon vehicles, public transport and urban planning) to do more, and higher quality business in Mexico, including high-level visits, trade missions, and account management.
- Promote UK expertise in mobility sectors amongst local decision makers. Working with the Sector Team in London, promote business opportunities to UK industry.
- Source and strengthen a pipeline of UK opportunities in mobility, developing relationships with key stakeholders in the public and private sector.
- Working with UK companies, to overcome barriers to trade leveraging relationships with government and regulators.
- Working with the Prosperity Fund, seek opportunities to deliver commercial benefits for the UK, inform and influence the focus of the programmes.
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the Embassy Future Cities Virtual Team.
Lead the regional Latin America & Caribbean High Value Campaign (HVC) for Automotive and Advanced Engineering (20%)
Provide Strategic leadership to the campaign ensuring alignment with country and regional strategies, with a focus on quality and delivery of outcomes across the region.
Coordinate activity across the country teams participating in the HVC to deliver export and investment success for UK companies.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders in DIT HQ and relevant UK and Mexican sectoral business organisations
Represent and Promote the British Embassy Prosperity Strategy for Mexico and other Embassy objectives in the state of Nuevo Leon (15%)
Liaise closely with the Embassy´s Prosperity Virtual Teams to represent and promote areas of the Prosperity strategy in Nuevo Leon, where relevant and applicable, identifying potential projects, beneficiaries and implementers. Promote the reputation of the UK in Nuevo Leon with the Marketing and Communications team, via social media, press interviews
Support other Embassy teams (eg Political, Consular, Corporate Services) in fulfilling their objectives in Nuevo Leon
Manage the trade and investment team in line with Embassy values, contributing to the overall Embassy corporate objectives and ensure good financial, project and procurement management (5%)
Effective line management of 1 x Senior Trade and Investment Offficer (B3 grade) and interns, through SMART objectives, uptake of L&D opportunities and high quality appraisals
Ensure good financial, project and procurement management of work in the team.
As part of the DIT leadership team, deliver work in line with Embassy Values (Honesty, Professionalism, Inclusion & Respect)
Contribute to the corporate objectives of the Embassy (TBA)
Language: fluent in English and Spanish
Work experience of leading a team. Work experience in international business. Relevant university degree in international relations, business studies, economics, commercial law or similar.

Knowledge of Future Cities, Automotive and Advanced Engineering and to promote and represent our Prosperity and other objectives in Nuevo Leon.

Working patterns:
DIT offers a flexible working policy and limited homeworking arrangements on agreement with line manager.
Salary: 41,670.00 monthly gross. Non-negotiable.
