Main purpose of job

To be responsible for building strong relationships with C-level executives in companies seeking Technological products and services across Mexico. Develop business opportunities throughout Mexico for UK companies and lead for the LATAC region on identifying technological solutions for commercial opportunities from across the network of Embassies and Consulates. Build a diverse pipeline from across the Tech sector, making CleanTech a priority sub-sector. For the Creative Industries particular focus on exporting TV content, build relationships with the leading TV executives.

The successful candidate will have robust knowledge of the Tech and Creative sector’s key areas: enterprise software, cyber security, artificial intelligence, data management analytics, cloud computing, electronic systems, film & TV production, computer gaming, audio-visual and advertising/ad-tech.

Lead the Trade campaign for Tech (70%)

• Work closely with regional colleagues; provide strategic leadership to the campaign ensuring alignment with country and regional strategies; with a focus on identifying and matching UK Tech solutions with commercial opportunities across Mexico and the region.

• Develop relationships with key stakeholders in DIT HQ and relevant UK industry associations and Mexican organisations seeking to advance their digital capabilities.

• Support UK Tech companies established in the US with further expansion into Mexico.

• Participate in the activities and events conducted by industry associations and other multipliers, building awareness of DIT in the business community and showcasing the benefits of the UK/Mexico economic relationship to external audiences.

• Work closely with the Future Cities virtual team of the Prosperity Fund to deliver commercial benefits for the UK.

• Be a strong communicator, particularly at senior levels, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Lead the Creative Industries trade campaign for Mexico (30%)

• Develop and deliver a programme of activity to support UK Creative companies to do more, and higher quality business in Mexico, including high-level visits, trade missions, and account management.

• Promote UK TV Content amongst senior industry decision makers. Working with the sector team in London, promote business opportunities to UK industry.

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high level/VIP visit programs and manage cross-embassy activities. This will include: compiling visit programs, planning company meetings, and writing briefing materials.

• Working in coordination with the Creative Virtual Team with the leads across the region to develop and deliver joint initiatives supporting the expansion of UK Creative companies.

  • A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • At least four years of relevant business development experience and a solid understanding of the Mexican business environment.
  • Account management, project management and excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Clear motivation and personal commitment to meeting challenging targets with a proven record of achievement.
  • An excellent network of industry contacts in the tech/creative sector in Mexico or the ability to develop such a network, including the ability to develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Valid passport, the ability to attend official functions outside of office hours, and the ability to undertake domestic and international air travel, including overnight stays.
  • Line Management experience.
  • Language: spoken and written English and Spanish to 'excellent' or 'proficient'. 

  • Familiarisation of market entry strategies into Mexico for UK tech and creative companies.
