The British Embassy Abu Dhabi has a vacancy for a Corporate Services Assistant, Human Resources.

This role concentrates on providing support for the Embassy’s Corporate Services (CS) work. However, the jobholder is also expected to work closely with a wide spectrum of other departments both within the Embassy and externally across government.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage the CS office and provide full administrative support to the UAE HR team and Director/ Deputy Director of Corporate Services.
  • Support the UAE HR Officer in arranging Embassy-wide inductions across both Abu Dhabi and Dubai for new joiners. Prepare induction materials.
  • Respond to and organise enquires received through telephone or inbox. Log to ensure enquires are appropriately handled according to their urgency and subject matter within relevant service level agreements.
  • Work collectively with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional HR Hub, Post Security Team, and Government Relations Team, ensuring all recruitment, security, and immigration processes are followed and completed.
  • Manage UAE HR team’s content on SharePoint and shared area, reviewing and updating as needed. Maintenance of HR databases and filing system.
  • Assist in local HR communications planning, roll-out, and continuous engagement. Manage and cascade all local HR communications.
  • Send out and monitor mandatory probation confirmation letters and conduct HR job chats as required.
  • Provide staff with routine letters as required.
  • Addition/ Deletion of medical insurance entries.
  • Initiate and monitor the exit process for all local staff.
  • Manage sickness and absence records in the Corporate Service Team.
  • Back up for reception cover.
  • Provide administrative support and assistance during meetings/ events. Provide support to other CS team members when needed.

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any other response to a crisis affecting UK citizens.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills. Ability to organise and prioritise workloads, organise records, and meet deadlines whilst maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and consideration in dealing with stakeholders. Excellent customer care skills and ability to respond to a range of customers' needs.
  • Proven ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely.
  • Very good level of IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Previous work experience in HR either in the public or private sector.
  • Previous experience of working in the Gulf region.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and with using Oracle-based systems.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of leave per annum, on-site swimming pool, gym, and sports facilities (subject to COVID-19 restrictions).

Salary is at AED 8,526 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 15:06, including a lunch break of 36 minutes, from Sunday to Thursday.

The successful candidate should also be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours. Flexible working arrangements may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager.

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.
