The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional HR Hub is looking for a Regional HR Advisor. This is for a fixed term contract of three (3) years.

The Regional HR Advisor will lead and manage a best practice HR advisory service to line managers and staff at British diplomatic missions within the Middle East and North Africa. Providing policy support, building stakeholder engagement and guidance on all ER matters across the region. Driving continuous improvement through the use of data driven insights and change initiatives. Be an excellent team player with strong communication and negotiation skills. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Providing customer-focused HR advisory service across the entire employee lifecycle,
  • Providing accurate and appropriate ER advice and guidance based on FCDO policies, guidelines and relevant local labour laws,
  • Developing understanding of the organisation and its context; using these insights to tailor solutions and interventions, to meet organisational needs now and in the future,
  • Providing data driven insights to support and drive continuous business improvement and mitigate potential risks,
  • Leading and managing projects end-to-end; applying process and project management skills to deliver effective and cost-efficient HR solutions; managing the change process,
  • As an HR Professional, enhancing the Regional HR Hub presence across the region through own efforts and through continuous stakeholder engagement,
  • Collaborating with Missions to devise and implement practical and timely interventions that will help to create an environment that is conducive to genuine engagement of staff, using engagement data to inform plans that will address critical concerns and drive sustainable organisational performance,
  • Working collaboratively with the HR Team within the Hub and establishing working relationships within the HR Network locally and in the UK
  • Managing, guiding and supporting the assigned team member(s),
  • Seeking continuous improvement, challenging current practice and suggesting innovative solutions.

The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree (HR, Business or related studies) or holding a HR Professional certification (CIPD / GPHR / SHRM or equivalent qualified),  
  • Minimum (3) three years of experience as part of a HR Team in an HR generalist/advisory/business partner role covering various aspects of the employee HR life cycle across different levels in the organization 
  • Knowledge of local employment law (working knowledge of the MENA Region would be a distinct advantage) 
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and spoken. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely, both orally and in written communication.
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office and has capability in using HR ERP systems
  • The ability to travel, and obtain any required visas, within the region.
  • Experience in a shared service / regional environment.
  • Fluency in other languages of the region (e.g., Arabic)

Working hours and remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata).

Salary is at AED 18,679 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00. Normal weekly working hours are thirty-five (35) hours per week, net of breaks.

Flexible working arrangements may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies.

The successful candidate must also be available for occasional travel within the region for business/ official purposes.

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.
