The British Embassy, Riyadh has a vacancy for a PA to the Director DIT, Grade A2 (L).

DIT is the British Government’s trade and investment development organisation.  We work with UK based businesses to ensure their success in international markets, and encourage overseas companies to bring their high quality investment to the UK.

The Trade & Investment team is part of the Department for International Trade (DIT), the UK Government’s trade and investment Ministry. The aim of DIT is to enhance the competitiveness of companies in the UK through overseas trade and investments; and attract a continuing high level of quality foreign direct investment into the UK.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Visit Programmes: design programmes for official UK Visitors, with consideration to seniority, objectives of the visit, and the forecasted outcomes. Additionally, suggest and arrange ministerial meetings/business-oriented meetings with Saudi counterparts.
  • Communication strategy and data management: Manage DIT Saudi Arabia Mailbox and Calendar; ensure information from Director is circulated to relevant team members, depending on each subject and outcomes/steps to be takes forward.
  • Research: on key market competitors, background and history of family businesses, key Saudi Investors and public figures, and search for new contacts. In addition, review sector reports as fresh eye, suggest comments and shed light on gaps to be filled, from client’s perspective.
  • DIT Events Management: Lead on customer relationships for commercial event bookings at the British Embassy. Assist with event arrangements including bookings, guest lists and invites, catering, IT support and general requirements.
  • PA support to DIT Director: arranging meetings and calls, diary organization, book official flights and accommodation, update contacts database, arranging DIT networking dinners with BBIG (British Business Investors Group), and answer to key contacts’ inquiries.
  • Network of Supporters FY 2017/2018: Identifying and approaching sponsorships for Embassy official events, creating consistent and frequent communication with sponsors on both junior level (for staff) and top senior level (for HMA).
  • Marketing Liaison: disseminating info from Dubai Marketing Hub (DMH), collating info from team back to DMH, updating DIT templates, apply and/or reflect GREAT Campaign designs, newsletter to DIT Saudi Arabia and ensure efficient use of DIT Saudi social media channels.

Essential:

  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven organisational ability.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role including:

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid Bonus – SAR. 5,373.33/-
  • * Housing Allowance – SAR. 1,343.33/- (subject to eligibility)*
  • * Travel Allowance- SAR. 400/-(subject to eligibility)*

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Normal working hours for the Embassy are 08.00 to 15.00 Sunday to Thursday.  This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week. There is a requirement for occasional out of hours working, for example to attend official networking events.  This contract is offered on a fixed term basis for two years.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.   

Eligibility:

The position is only available to holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas, and successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy.
