The British Embassy in Tunis is looking to recruit a full-time Project Officer. Working at the British Embassy offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to grow professionally while collaborating with a talented group of individuals.

 Main Purpose of Job 

  • To manage the implementation of British Embassy projects in a number of areas including,      economic, good governance, counter terrorism and security sector reform.   
  • To lead on the  coordination of communication on British Embassy projects.

  Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project management To develop coherent and effective high performing Tunis projects, in co-ordination with Embassy colleagues.  To manage effective oversight and quality control of projects through liaison with implementing partners and beneficiaries, including visiting project sites.      Support implementers in narrative reports in accordance with agreed      deadlines, including monthly updates, project quarterly and completion reports. Collaborate with the Finance Manager to develop high quality financial reports.
  • Programme and project development - Identify new projects/partnerships/areas of work in support      of British Embassy objectives.  Provide advice and assistance to colleagues and/or external stakeholder on developing new projects and submitting bid for FCO funding. 
  • Stakeholder management - Build and maintain a strong network of contacts with international      donor community as well as civil society organisations to strengthen co-ordination and complementarily of UK activities.  Represent British Embassy at donor meetings and other events.  Direct engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholder, both national and international. 
  • Programme communication - Liaison with the British Embassy Communications Team on the      development, production and dissemination of effective communication on British Embassy projects. Manage engagement with stakeholders on project activities to ensure British Embassy Communications Team are nformed of events, that appropriate plans are drawn up, implemented and monitored to support healthy promotion of British Embassy projects. Support other project public relation activities and identify visibility opportunities that will contribute to the realisation of project goals.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, arrangements for official visitors, providing written briefings for HM Ambassador and senior officials on project activity, and providing effective back up to cover absences within the programme team if required.

Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years experience in  project management.
  • Excellent communication skills  both verbal and written in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience of communication delivery in project work.

Desirable:

  • Understanding national and local political climate
  • Previous experience of working in an international organisation/Embassy
  • Previous experience of financial management

Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00 am to 16:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. 08:00 – 13:00 on Fridays.

 The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 3412 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 4224

 

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period. The appointment is also subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.

Candidates must ensure that they are eligible to work and reside in Tunisia.
