Summary:

In this role the individual will work as part of a team responsible for the Health Care/Life Sciences sectors in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern regions of the United States, engaging with clients in an 11 state patch, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, as well as Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

Identify and provide strategic advice and assistance to U.S. Life Science companies interested in establishing or expanding operations in the UK. 

Conduct research on industry developments, best routes to market and potential US business partners for UK life sciences exporters looking to enter the U.S. market.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with initiatives such as trade missions, seminars, webinars, receptions and other events to promote the UK’s strengths in life sciences. Provide event management and logistical support where necessary.
  • Develop, position and implement marketing strategies, conceive and develop DIT activities, and produce and manage events with the goals of generating FDI leads, building relationships, and highlighting the strengths of the UK’s market proposition to potential investors.
  • Support account management of DC-area life sciences companies and delivery of investment projects.
  • Conduct research on industry developments, best routes to market and potential US business partners for UK life sciences exporters looking to enter the U.S. market.
  • Undertake regular travel in the U.S. and occasional travel to the UK (up to 10% of the time).

Note: We define life sciences as comprising two main sub-sectors: 1) biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, 2) healthcare (including medical devices, diagnostics and health IT).

Position may be based in Washington or Atlanta.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience in sales and/or business development, including lead generation, and account / project management.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting and/or exceeding challenging targets.

  • Strong ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and communicate information in a timely fashion 
  • Proven collaboration skills 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
