View Vacancy - Housekeeper part-time (16 hours per week), Chicago
Main purpose of job
The British Consulate-General in Chicago has a vacancy for a part time housekeeper in our busy Consul General’s official residence, located in the downtown area of Chicago. Reporting to the Consul General’s spouse, the successful applicant will be responsible for cleaning the entire residence and supporting entertainment.
This position is part-time (16 hours a week), with the job holder normally working four hours a day for four days a week, although from time to time s/he will be required to work longer hours, paid on an hourly basis.
What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Cleaning all the private and guest areas of the Residence.
- Laundry, ironing; changing linens.
- Prepare the Residence for visitors and overnight guests.
- Ensure glassware and silverware is clean and in good order.
- Order cleaning materials.
- Occasionally assist with the preparation of simple foods for both public and private dining.
- Serve meals and drinks.
- Perform general guest service to include greeting guests, answering phones, etc.
- Supervise contractors.
- Perform other duties as required.
Essential on arrival:
- 1 to 2 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
- The successful candidate must have full scheduling availability as this position may work evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Verbal communication skills in English are required.
- Must be able to perform frequent manual labor as well as lift up to 25 pounds.
