Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) has overall responsibility for promoting UK trade across the world and attracting foreign investment to our economy. As part of the DIT North America Network Operations Team, the advertised position is focused on the coordination and project management of all enquiries and research undertaken on behalf of UK clients, providing daily support to clients and colleagues, and oversight of the network’s operations and performance. The position reports to the Head of Commercial Partnerships as part of a small, busy, energetic team.


  • Network operations management

- Support US Regional Directors on trade and investment performance, representing the network as needed

- Support Regional Director (Trade) to track DIT HVC developments through sector team engagement; ensure HVC criteria are curerent, relevant and properly communicated to UK Regions

- Create, maintain and share guidance on Export Wins, Overseas Direct Investment and Income Generation policy, acting asd a conduit between US network and HQ

- Support Leadership Team with strategic decision making on US network targets and resources, leading on the provision and interpretation of trade and investment data

- Support Head of Commercial Partnership, sharing policy and data around outsourced services, including regular communication with UK Regions; deputise for HoCP as needed

- Line manage Data Management Associate (DMA) including coacing and development

- Oversee DMA to deliver accurate and timely performance reporting on all export and investment measures (scorecards, collation of outsourced partner and data returnsm campaign dashboards, and ad hoc reporting


  • Trade enquiry management

- Manage all UK company enquiries for North America to assess alignment with DIT priorities and take timely, strategic decision to allocate and track work

- Make timely introductions, managind and resolving any operational queries from clients and DIT staff (including pricing, policy and process)

- Act as liaison for customer complaints related to chargeable work, managing communication and ensuring partners are following agreed processes

- Manage UK company data capture (currently North America Export Portal), creating, refining and improving process and policy according to client and stakeholder feedback; lead on all related communication with UK Regions and DIT HQ in London

- Represent US needs to HQ (particularly with regard to creation and rollout of new digital client services/data capture systems) and manage communication with and guidance to US teams


  • In-house chargeable project management

- Overall responsibility for all US DIT chargeable work, including quality control, final review of client quotes and deliverables, troubleshooting and consistent application of charging policy


- Represent US network on income generation policy; take strategic decisions for the US network, liasing with key stakeholders in HQ and the US Leadership Team


- Develop and share best practice for the US network, including issuing policy guidance to teams as needed


- Lead on reviewing and resolving DIT customer complaints, suggest and implement remedial action managing communication and actions between US and UK teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferably related to transatlantic trade)
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong client and project management experience
  • Understanding of business environments in the UK and US and the factors companies consider when expanding internationally.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, organize and work to deadlines with excellent follow-up discipline
  • Proven administrative skills, ability to prioritize and effectively manage and execute multiple tasks
  • Strong ability to communicate with organizations effectively and credibly at a senior level
  • Excellent research, presentation and communication skills, with an ability to emphasise relevant information and provide clear, concise summaries
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to respond to ad hoc requests at short notice from clients, colleagues and senior management
  • Computer literacy in standard Microsoft applications

This position is open to external applicants based in New York or willing to relocate. For internal applicants based outside of New York but in a US post with an existing DIT team (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, DC, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco), this would be an opportunity to work within the Network Operations team remotely from your current location.


The salary will vary by region:

Region 1: $75,156

Region 2: $82,390

Region 3: $88,648
