Economic and Prosperity

In November 2015, the UK Government announced the creation of a new cross-Whitehall Prosperity Fund, aimed to support the conditions for global and UK economic growth.  A small part of this Fund is used to support programme activity in non-ODA countries, including Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). This is a high profile fund: it must be used to deliver high-quality programmes and projects that stand up to scrutiny in terms of impact and value for money. 

The jobholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of ANZ’s Prosperity Fund allocation. This includes budgeting, forecasting, reporting to stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of ANZ’s non-ODA programme for 2018-20. They will need to work with relevant policy teams in ANZ and the UK, and project implementers, to ensure HMG project delivery requirements are met.

Day-to-day oversight and administration of the Prosperity Fund Programme for FY2018-19, and FY2019-20.

  • Work with Trade Policy Officers to ensure the overall programme complies with FCO guidance (including procurement rules).
  • Follow sound financial management processes and prepare contracts, purchase orders and invoices for payment, in conjunction with relevant teams in the wider HMG network;
  • Budget forecasting, profiling and management, with input from relevant teams;
  • Develop an understanding of UK trade policy, and identify potential projects that may support it. Work with project leads to implement these ideas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with implementers
  • Other work related to the PPF as appropriate, or the wider BHC, to be discussed and agreed as necessary (5% max). 
  • Ensure the allocation is spent within the financial year, in line with central guidance.

  • Work with policy leads to produce regular financial, progress and project evaluation reports for London-based stakeholders.

This is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2020.

Salary is up to $61,005 per annum (paid monthly) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus up to 5% superannuation subsidy on a $ for $ basis. The role offers great learning and development opportunities, through formal training, on-the-job learning and taking on new challenges. 

Appointment is subject to achieving a clean New Zealand Police records search and UK security clearance.

Appointment is subject to a 90 day trial period pursuant to section 67A of the Employment Relations Act 2000.
